Description
Lake Geneva receives an average of 50 tons of plastic waste each year. The vast majority of this waste remains trapped in the lake. It is estimated that 580 tons of plastic waste settles to the bottom of the lake. The second most important source of plastic waste in the lake comes from packaging and littering.
If these few facts make you want to act, don't wait any longer and participate in the waste collection organized by Global Shapers Community Geneva and Ne Mégotte Pas!
This collection will take place on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 1pm to 4pm at the Plage des Eaux-Vives.
In addition to cleaning up a public place, our collection aims to raise awareness about the pollution of the lake caused by litter. The waste will be collected, so that, at the end of a few hours, we can calculate the rate of pollution avoided.
